Look at these two pictures, can you imagine when we don’t use welding? The answer is simply not possible.

The use of welding in today’s technology is extensive. It had a phenomenal rise since about 1930 the growth rate of which has been higher than the general industrial growth. Apart from industrial fabrication, many common everyday use items like household appliances, electronic equipment, machineries, cars, ships, aircraft etc. depend upon welding for their economical construction. A few important applications of welding are for automobiles and locomotives (automobile frames, brackets, engine, front and rear hoods, under frame etc), Bridges, building, pressure vessels and tanks, storage tanks, piping and pipelines, ships, trucks and trailers, machine tool frame, cutting tools and dies, earth moving equipment and cranes etc.

It is process of joining different materials and major portion of materials that are welded are metals their alloys. It is considered as necessary evil because the welded material changes their micro-structure and properties due to heat cycle associated with welding. Welding metallurgy is an important field which needs its due respect. Qualified and competent welding engineers with multidisciplinary knowledge are essential for the success of welding industry.

Then, How do you prepare a welding joint?

Clean it with a wire brush. Preferably on a grinder with wire brush attachment. Then you determine the size rod being used, if it’s an 1/8 in rod, make the gap 1/8 inch. Tack both ends on opposite sides. Mr distortion loves to wreak havoc on joints that aren’t tacked properly. Run your root bead, and wire brush it again. Then second, third, and crown beads will have a nice clean surface to bond to. If you’re using mig. Just clean the rust, oil, etc…from the work.

Mig Welder is clean. It has shielding gas instead of flux, so there’s no chipping slag between beads. Downfall of the shielding gas, is if it’s windy it is useless. Then you use flux core. Flux core doesn’t need gas. It’s shielding comes from the wire being hollow, and the flux it inside the wire. If you use both. Flux core with the shielding gas, the flux flows better. But with flux core, shielding gas isn’t needed.

Welding is an essential component for many industries is such as the automotive industry, the construction industry, the aviation industry, and more. Without this form of metalwork, so many things, as accept many buildings, gates, and fences, small kitchen appliances, vehicles, etc. Perfect Power services are associated with manual and automatic welding and cutting machines in terms of maintenance, training, and support to production… even closer to customers’ needs. Our technicians and engineers will support you in your projects.
